Redland U14s v Weston super Mare

We played this match at UWE on 14 October with a good sized squad. Although we were missing our very important playmaker Becca we dominated the game with some outstanding play from Annabel in midfield. Our defence were rarely troubled and Lottie didn’t touch the ball in goal.

We attacked with strength and were 3-0 up at half time with some good finishing from a solo run from Holly and some good finishing at short corners by Katherine. We came out strong again in the second half and continued to press forward. We found the goal another four times this half from both open play and short corners to finish 7-0 winners. Well done to the team

Our next match is on 11 November.

Redland U10 Avon League Festival 21 October

This was the first outing for our fairly new and inexperienced U10 side in the Avon League. We started slowly against North Somerset but gradually got into the pace of the game and an attack from Emily ended with a goal which delighted the coaches and parents watching. We then soaked up a lot of pressure and sadly conceded a goal to make the final score 1-1.

We then played a strong City of Bath side with a few boys with good stick work. We defended well and thanks to the twiddly guy who kept missing the goal we remained level at 0-0 for a lot of the game. We scored against the run of play to the delight of the crowd but didn’t manage to hold on to the lead because the twiddly guy eventually found the net. We were lucky to draw this game 1-1.

Next we played a very confident Clifton side who played some great hockey. We played with determination to not let them score and for a lot of the game we competed on the same level as them and had a couple of chances which we didn’t convert. Betsy made some awesome saves in goal but eventually their class told and they scored two very good goals to win 2-0.

Our last game was against Westbury who had a couple of good boys with good stick work. Despite some good defence from Tom we were getting tired and conceded two goals to lose 0-2.

The team played really well and we were pleased with their overall performance. They will have learnt a lot from playing in very competitive matches.
