Junior Report – November
11 November U14s v Team Bath Buccs
With only a small squad of 12, the girls thought this was going to be a hard match against Bath Buccs. However with the second short corner of the game we managed to score our first goal resulting from a push out from Annabel up to Katherine who had a straight strike at goal which the goalkeeper saved but Annabel was there to score the rebound.
There was some great linking play between the defence and the midfield but we struggled at times to get it further up the pitch due to the forwards sitting a little too deep.
Iris managed to be in a great position for an out let from a hitout, who found Chemuni up the line on the right. This resulted in our second goal from Holly in a cracking position on the penalty spot.
Bath didn’t give up and Lottie saw a fantastic strike fly past her left ear making the score 2-1.
Redland kept attacking and finished another shot on goal making the final score 3-1.
Player of the match Annabel.
18 November U10s Avon League
We had the bare seven for this festival, with a lot of unavailability, but the team put in some great performances against some strong opposition.
We started really well against Weston and pressed most of the game. The team worked well together and scored some good goals in open play. Dani finished well on the left getting onto some good crosses from Lyra. The final score was 3-0.
We then had 2 really tough games against North Somerset and Bath Buccs who had some skilful boys. They were able to dominate the games and despite some great work in goal from Tom we lost 0-2 and 0-5 respectively.
Our last game against Westbury was very even and both teams did their fair share of attacking. It was a very close game and again Tom did some great work in goal. We conceded two goals and then Una had a breakaway to score making the final score 1-2.
Well done to the team.
Redland Juniors U14 match v Westbury
This was another victory for the Redland U14 team. It was a game of two halves with some excellent linking play from Iris between our defensive line and midfield but also a high level of turnover resulting in what looked like a game of tennis at times.
Becca scored our first goal with a powerful sweep into the D which was mistrapped and deflected in to make the half time score 1-0.
Their playmaker did give us a job to do with her reverse stick and stick work but between Iris and Issy she was marked out of the game in the second half. This gave us the opportunity for Becca to slot away another goal to make it 2-0. Then, finally, after numerous attempts to get the ball to the left post, Hannah got her stick flat on the floor and swept the ball into the goal to make the final score 3-0.
