U14s up against strong opposition
ttt
Our third match in the Avon League was against Old Bristolians on 10 November. ttt Once again we had a bare 11 players, so it was a tough ask for the team against a very strong and skilful OBs side. We started well with some good movement on the left between Phoebe and Isabella, but we were unable to get past a very solid OBs’ defence. Iris held the centre of defence and distributed the ball well. We held our own in the first half and went into the half time break a deserving 0-0. ttt After the break we again moved the ball well on the left but weren’t able to keep hold of the ball very long. We managed to make some inroads into the attacking circle and their GK had to make a couple to saves, but we started to get tired and were dominated by the physicality of the OBs side. Despite some sterling work in defence by Izzy, Christina and Phoebe, we eventually gave way to a scrappy goal to go 0-1 down. ttt The team didn’t give up and worked really hard to keep going. Lottie made some great saves and the defence again worked hard to keep the ball out. Iris and Annabel tried to keep the ball moving forward but we were unable to keep possession for long enough to get through the OBs’ defence. ttt The final score was 0-1 but the team has to be congratulated for their effort and commitment. Everyone worked very hard. ttt |
