Wereys O55s through to next round of EH Cup
November 2025: They left it til the second half but the Wereys Over 55s secured a 2-1 victory over local rivals Bretforten to go through to the next round of the England Hockey Masters O55s Cup. A bit of a slow start saw the Wereys go 1-0 down from a well-taken Bretforten penalty corner, which capitalised on a slight defensive line-up error. From then on it was end to end and pretty even.
After the half-time time talk from captain Cath, the Wereys started to build momentum, with plenty of attacking play, earning several penalty corners and drawing level with a rebound goal from Nicky. From this point the Wereys grew stronger, noticeably wearing down the oppo, and clinched the tie with another penalty corner conversion, this time from Elaine.
