President, Junior Manager & Child Welfare Officer
A long standing member of Redland having joined as a mere 15 year old (yes I was that young once). Currently captain of the very successful Masters club side, Wereys, who became National O45 Plate champions in 2016 and National O45 Cup runners up in 2017. Formerly represented Glos, Avon on its creation, West, England U23 outdoors and Avon and England indoors.
Club Captain & Welfare Officer
I rejoined Redland in 2016 and have loved playing for such a friendly, positive and inclusive club. It’s a huge privilege and pleasure to become Club Captain this season for such a fantastic bunch of people. I have been a West Masters player since 2012 and my recent playing highlights include a sliver medal in the England Masters European Championships in 2017 and picking up a medal with the Wereys at Lee Valley in the same year.
I’ve played for Redland since I was 14, working my way through the junior teams and up through the senior section. I went away for 3 years and played hockey for the University of Gloucestershire and then returned to Redland and took on 1st team captaincy for 3 seasons. I love playing for this club and the friends I have made. It’s great to be involved in the committee and supporting to move our club forwards.
1st Team Co-Captain & Kit Manager
Whilst studying at UWE in 2008, I joined Redland when the club first moved to the university pitch. I began my time in the 3rd XI, followed by 2nd XI captain then worked my way into the 1st XI side. Over the last few seasons, I have had the honour of being co-captain with the awesome Chris Chan. Although we love competition, we also want to create an enjoyable atmosphere for the 1st team players and those in the rest of the club. In July 2019, I had my first child so whilst I worked on my fitness, I was yet again given the opportunity to play in the 3rd and 2nd team matches. This allowed me to play hockey with lots of fantastic players within the club. I am super excited to get back to hockey and this season I will be co-captaining the 1st XI alongside the brilliant Laura Glover.
1st Team Co-Captain
2nd Team Co-Captain
2nd Team Co-Captain & Club Treasurer
I joined Redland when I was 12 and have slowly played my way through all the teams. After a break for uni, I took over captaincy of the 2nd team in 2016 for two years, before becoming a social secretary in 2018 and helping to organise our very successful Auction of Promises. Now I’m trying my hand at treasuring! Redland is a great club to be a part of, and I enjoy being on the committee and helping to form our future.
3rd Team Captain & Webmaster
Started playing at 11 playing through the then junior County structure. Adult club hockey in the West started at Chippenham 1s, before moving to Bristol and Redland. Have done most committee roles at various clubs, currently taking on the 3s captaincy for the 20/21 season. This team is a great mix of youth and experience. Also one of Cath’s regular Monday assistant junior coaches and one-time member of the Wereys Masters squad – O45s Plate winners and Cup runners-up.
I’ve been playing for Redland from the age of 10, when the junior section was first set up. Having built my way through the club I am now a strong member of the 1st XI team, junior coach and also membership secretary. I have also played for UWIC, Clifton ladies and also represent the Welsh mixed squad in 2012/13/14. If you have any questions/queries about registration, I’m here to help!
Started club hockey at 13 with Weston Ladies, played for over 30 years; played county for Avon in my late teens and early 20s. Moved to North Somerset for 4 seasons; and whilst playing for the Wereys, came to Redland. First season 3rd team Captain and gained promotion. Enjoyed success playing with the Wereys; most proud moment scoring at Lee Valley, and its been captured on video; and yes I have shown every one! I love playing, and coaching hockey; and also taken on the Social Sec role for this season. Still very passionate about this sport, and delighted to be part of the Redland hockey family.
