U14s final win secures league victory for Redland Juniors
23 April 2023: Redland Under 14s finished off their 22/23 season with a convincing 5-0 home win over Westberries to secure the league title. It was all down to this last game, with Redland needing a win or draw to climb to the top of the table.
After a slightly nervy start, the home team started to dominate, putting together some excellent passing moves and defending as a cohesive team. Una opened the scoreline with Emily then netting a hat-trick, and Una grabbing the final goal after a helpful cross from Lilly.
Much of the match was end-to-end with Lizzie making some crucial saves in goal. But Redland maintained pressure throughout with Amelia, Betsy and Alice commanding the midfield and Alex, Alyssa and Dani holding up the defence.
Too many names to mention, the whole team put in an impressive performance for the sideline spectators to applaud.
Stats: Topped the table as league winners. Played seven, winning five and conceding two (these were the first two games of the season, unbeaten thereafter). Goals for = 27, goals against = 8.
